GAJU Marketplace 2015

California Market was first opened in 1987, at 450 S. Western Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.

The property was acquired by the late Richard Rhee, as a Korean market serving the local Asian American community. California Market established the first international supermarket chain with prominent brand recognition in Southern California. We carry a much wider selection of fresh produce, fish, meats and specialty items that no other traditional market can match.
Our focus on international foods and community needs has helped us grow and expand our business. We have never lost sight of our principles and continue to deliver high quality, value and selection to our customers.
Currently, we are looking to expand our operations into the new California Marketplace, which will be a three story, state of the art commercial complex, containing fifty-four (54) retail stores.
The California Marketplace will be built on the current site of the California Market. “GAJU” (AKA “New California Market”), will serve as the anchor tenant to attract a variety of high profile retail outlets. Our goal is to make one stop shopping a convenient and pleasurable experience. This prototype will set a new standard and serve as a landmark in the Asian Community.
